Birds of a Feather Card Kit Release

Hello and welcome! I'm back tonight for the release of the new Birds of a Feather card kit from My Favorite Things. I have one more card to share for the release that I made using all of the great dies from this month's kit.

I really love the large birdhouse die included in the kit and wanted to use it a card design, but I wanted the bird to remain the focus, so I decided to create a white birdhouse and create a tone-on-tone look.

I created some subtle clouds in the sky with the Mini Cloud Edges stencil and then I layered my die cut birdhouse over top. I added the Hello sentiment to the birdhouse after I coloured it with Copic markers and also coloured and added some hearts coloured with the same green markers.

I coloured my bird with Copic markers and added her to the birdhouse and then I added a stamped and white heat embossed sentiment to the card. I completed it by adding the finished the panel to a Limelight card base.

I hope you had fun counting down to the newest card kit! Thanks so much for stopping by!

MFT June Card Kit Countdown | Day 1

Hello and welcome back to the countdown to the newest card kit from My Favorite Things called Birds of a Feather.

For my card today I created a colourful floral wreath using the Birds of a Feather dies and my Copic markers. I love die cutting everything from white card stock and then using my markers to colour them in a custom colour palette.

I used a circle template to draw a circle on my panel to use as a guide and then I added the flowers on top. I positioned the bird on the bottom left and used the new Simply Hello and Love You dies (this months Free with $60, while supplies last) for the sentiment. I used the same colours to colour the sentiment that I used on the bird to perfectly colour match everything.

You can see how I created this card from start to finish on the MFT YouTube channel this week. Make sure to head over to the MFT blog for more peeks at the kit and more ideas from the design team.

Thanks for stopping by! See you tomorrow for the kit release! :)

MFT June Card Kit Countdown | Day 2

Hello and welcome back! Today is the first day of the countdown to the new My Favorite Things June card kit called Birds of a Feather. I love this month's kit - there are a ton of dies that can be used together to create gorgeous scenes with birds and flowers and I had a lot of fun creating with it.

For my first card, I created an ink blended background with pinks and purples and then I added 'wires' onto the background with a black pen for my birds to sit on.

I coloured all of my birds with aqua Copic markers and added them to the wires with some of the greenery I had coloured as well. I added a small pink flower to them as well and then I used a white gel pen to add some additional detail.

I added the bird's wings with foam adhesive for some added dimension and I created the sentiment by stamping out a sentiment from the A Tweet Hello stamp set in three parts onto a black card stock strip. I heat set them all with white embossing powder, cut them apart and added them to all three birds to form the complete greeting.

Make sure to head over to the MFT blog for the full kit reveal and join me back here tomorrow for another card using the new Birds of a Feather card kit. Thanks for stopping by!

MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge 389

Hello and welcome back! Today I have a card to share for the newest sketch challenge at the My Favorite Things Challenge blog. I loved the layout of the sketch this month but decided to turn it into a vertical card rather than a horizontal design.

I first created the inked sky section on a white card stock panel. I masked off a rectangle shape and used Mermaid Lagoon and Peacock Feathers Distress inks to add an ombre sky. Once I was done with the inking I removed the post-it tape and trimmed the panel down to 4" x 5 1/4".

I stamped, coloured and diecut one of the adorable sloths from the Sweet Sloths stamp set and used it as a guide to stamp my sentiment in two parts on a black card stock strip so I could have the sloths head hanging down over the greeting.

I adhered the sentiment strip directly to the panel right under the inked sky and left a small space between the sky and the sentiment strip. I added the sloth with thin foam squares, trimmed off the edge of the branch and finished the card with some pink enamel hearts to match the flowers.

If you want to take part in this week's sketch challenge, head over to the Challenge blog for all the details! Thanks so much for stopping by! :)

MFT & Friends | June Release

Hello and welcome back! Today I have a card to share for a new monthly feature on the My Favorite Things blog called MFT & Friends. The design team will be sharing even more cards with the newest release, and we'll be joined by different friends of MFT each month!

For my card today I used a bunch of ocean characters with some older product to create a colourful ocean scene. I love mixing and matching old and new products for fun new looks!

I used the Snow Drifts Cover-Up Die-namics to create my sand and water but only used the interior pieces of the die cut. I added colour to them with Distress Inks and then I used the outer frame as a guide to adhere the inside pieces to a white card stock panel. I removed the frame when I was done and added the whole panel to a Limelight card base.

I stamped, coloured and die cut my characters from Beach Buds, Gill Friends and Seaside Seagulls and I adhered them all onto the scene. I also die cut some wave openings so I could tuck the seagull and the shark down into the water.

I finished the card with white gel pen detail on the images as well as the sand.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. Make sure to head over to the MFT blog to see what the rest of the team and this month's friends created! :)

Hello and welcome back! Today I have a card to share for a new monthly feature on the My Favorite Things blog called Just Add Color. The design team will be sharing cards, stamped images, and projects from the newest release that feature coloring in some way.

For my project today, I created a card with the awesome new Toucan Do It stamp set and had fun colouring the images from the set in bright vibrant colours!

I created a scene on my card using two of the toucans that I had coloured and added some of the greenery stamped in black. I love the contrast of the bright colours with the black accents and card base.

I added Distress ink under the birds to give the effect of sky and I added the little tightrope for them to stand on. I absolutely love thise funny images... the little leg warmers are hysterical! :)

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

My Favorite Things June Release Countdown | Day 4

Hello and welcome to day 4 of the My Favorite Things June Release Countdown. For the next five days, we'll be sharing cards and projects featuring all of the new products coming out on June 5th at 9pm EST.

And stay tuned to the MFT blog for the week following each release - we're bringing you even more inspiration and ideas using all of the new products!

For my first card today I used the new Gill Friends stamp set, the Aquarium Die-namics, and the Large Rectangle Shaker Pouches to create an interactive aquarium card.

I stamped two of the fish and coloured them with rainbow colours and also stamped and coloured one of the greenery stamps. I created an inked background on a white card stock panel that would fit in the area where the fish tank would be and adhered the fish and plant to the background.

I diecut the opening for the aquarium in a second panel and glued the shaker pouch inside. I filled it with micro seed beads and assembled and adhered everything together to secure the beads in the aquarium.  I coloured the top and bottom of the aquarium and adhered them to the panel.

I added the finished panel to a Limelight card base and stamped the sentiment onto a Summer Splash sentiment strip and heat embossed it in white. I finished the card with some clear gems scattered on the card front.

For my second card, I created a beach scene with the umbrella from the new Just Beclaws stamp set and a fun crab from another new stamp set coming this week. I stamped and coloured my images and also cut out a strip of card stock for the sand with the Stitched Snow Drifts die as the top. I coloured the sand with Copic markers and added some white gel pen detail.

I created the waves behind the crab with a new stencil coming tomorrow and added the large cloud background with the Stitched Cloud Edges Die-namics. I love the white space the cloud provides between the sky and the water but I wanted a little more interest so I added some smaller clouds that I had die cut from the Beach Scene Builder Die-namics.

I finished the card with a stamped sentiment on the cloud and some clear jewels to create some added dimension and interest.

Thanks so much for joining me for Day 4 of the June release countdown. Make sure to head over to the MFT blog for a closer look at the new products and more ideas using them.

See you tomorrow for more countdown fun!
