Friends Forever | MFT Color Challenge 92


Hello and welcome back! Today I have a card to share for the newest colour challenge at the MFT Challenge blog. 

This week's color palette has rich, deep colours and even though we're trying really hard to head into Spring (come on Mother Nature!) I immediately thought of fall and decided to create a friendship card with some stitched detail.

I die cut the Cross-Stitch Rectangle from white card stock and stitched an area large enough to fit behind the Square Peek-a-Boo Window die. I used the DMC Color Chart to find the colors to match this week's combination and stitched the pattern using all 4 of the colours.  

I layered my white card stock panel over top after I had die cut it with the square window and then I added my sentiment strip and leaf die cut over top of the window.

MFT April Card Kit Release!


Hello and welcome back! The newest card kit from My Favorite Things called Stitched Blooms is now available at MFT Stamps! This kit is so colourful and fun, and I love love the detail on the stitched flower dies!

For my card tonight I decided to go with a tone-on-tone white card stock panel since the other cards I created were so colourful. The great thing about this kit is it can create so many different looks, from fun and playful to elegant.

I die cut all of the dies from a panel of card stock until the I had the whole panel covered (similar to the way I created the stencil) and then I left them in the panel so I would have a one layer card stock piece with all of the die detail added to it.

I did add a pop of colour to the card base with Razzle Berry and Limelight, and then I added a hello sentiment (the free with $60 with this kit release) that I had die cut from Blu Raspberry card stock.

MFT April Card Kit Countdown | Day 1


Hello and welcome back! Today I have two more cards to share using the newest card kit from MFT called Stitched Blooms. This kit will officially be available tomorrow night at 9pm EST!

For my cards today I used the Stitched Flowers dies as a stencil instead of as die cut pieces. I die cut the whole grouping of dies from a panel of card stock twice so I would I fill the whole area with die cut flowers and leaves, and then I temporarily adhered it onto another white panel so I could apply ink through the panel.

I went with a rainbow look and used colors in rainbow order starting at the bottom of the panel. The card stock I was applying the inked design to is Bristol Smooth, so it takes the ink a bit differently than regular card stock because it has a bit of a coating on it.

So I ended up with a really pretty soft design on the bottom panel and I love the background it created. Once I was done stenciling, I realized that the regular white card stock that I had used as the mask looked beuaiful with all the rainbow ink colours. And since the card stock was Smooth White, the inks ended up being a lot more vibrant on it!

So I layered the mask piece over a white card stock panel and end up with two cards instead of just the original one I was working on. I added simple sentiments to both of them and really let the backgrounds be the focus.

I love that I was able to get two cards instead of just one and I love the difference between the ink intensity on each one.

MFT April Card Kit Countdown | Day 2


Hello and welcome back! Today is the first day of the April card kit countdown, and I have a fun, colourful card to share using the new Stitched Blooms kit.

I created the rainbow design by die cutting the flowers and leaves from the assorted colourful card stock that comes with the kit. I cut out a bunch in rainbow colours, and then I added them to a white card stock panel in rainbow order.

Once I had the panel completely covered, I trimmed around the edges to cut off any of the flower and leaves that were going off the edge. I stamped a sentiment onto a Lavender Fields card stock strip, and heat embossed it with white embossing powder.

I adhered the completed panel onto a Lavender Fields card base and added some of the Sparkling Crystals to the flower centers. You can see how I created this card from start to finish in tomorrow's MFTv episode on the MFT YouTube channel.

MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge 381


Hello and welcome back! Today I have a card to share for the newest MFT Stamps sketch challenge. The sketch for this week features a circle in the top right corner of the card, and I decided the use the circle for the area I would add my large script sentiment.

I stitched the entire background of the Cross-Stitch Rectangle first with a rainbow chevron pattern, and then I adhered the stitched panel to a Summer Splash card base.

Once I had the panel adhered, I diecut the Cheers sentiment from white card stock and added it to the card in the same area as the circle from the sketch. I then stamped a second sentiment onto a white card stock strip and adhered it directly under the script word.

My Favorite Things Color Challenge 91


Hello and welcome back! Today I have a card to share for the newest MFT Color Challenge. A new color combination is shared every couple of weeks, and the challenge is to create a card featuring the colors.

This week features a color palette that I don't often use, pinks and yellows. I love the look of soft colours, but I really struggle with creating anything pastel so I wasn't sure if I would like the final result. Well last weekend I was playing around with Distress Oxide inks and Distress Glaze creating some really cool backgrounds, and I ended up creating one with this week's colours that I love! :)

The photos on this post look a lot darker than the card actually is - it's a gorgeous blend of the pinks and yellows with a Lemon Chiffon card base.  I really wanted to keep the focus on the background, so I went with a simple die cut sentiment with a stamped sentiment strip below it.

MFT and Friends - April Release


Hello and welcome back! Today I have a card to share for a new monthly feature on the My Favorite Things blog called MFT & Friends. The design team will be sharing even more cards with the newest release, and we'll be joined by different friends of MFT each month!


For my card today I have another stitched card to share. You're probably getting tired of seeing them LOL! But I really enjoy the stitching process and love turning them into cards. :)


I used the new Cross-Stitch Rectangle die and die cut it from white card stock, and then I stitched a background design that I got from our downloadable patterns - you can find them here. Once I had the background completely stitched I added it to a Tropical Teal card stock panel, and then I adhered that onto a Summer Splash card base.


I finished the card by stamping a sentiment from the From the Heart stamp set onto a sentiment banner that I diecut from the Hearts in a Row - Vertical die-namics - I love the small narrow sentiment strips in this die set. I really like to leave a lot of the background showing since I put so much time into the stitching.

My Favorite Things April Release | Techniques & Tutorials


Hello and welcome back! Today I have a card to share for a new monthly feature on the My Favorite Things blog called Techniques & Tutorials. The design team will be sharing cards with detailed instructions and step-by-step photos using products from the newest release.


For my card, I'm sharing a die cut inlay technique using the new Mom Die-namics and really putting the focus on the sentiment as a design element. 





The first step in creating this card is to die cut the word mom from a white 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" card stock panel. Start with the center word first so you can use that one as a guide for spacing and placement on the second two.


On separate panels of card stock, add 3 colours of Distress inks to areas large enough to die cut the word, mom. Once you've inked the panels, add water splashes for a splotchy distressed look on the ink. Run all the panels through your die cutting machine with the same mom die you used on the white panel.



Trim down the white panel with the largest die from the A2 Rectangle STAX Set 1 and adhere it onto a Razzle Berry card base. Add glue to the inked letters and insert them into the die cut openings of each mom word. Don't forget to put the white centers back into the letter o's.


Once all of the letters are inlaid back into the panel, create the sentiment strip by stamping a sentiment from the All About Mom stamp set onto a black card stock strip with Versamark and heat embossing with white embossing powder.


Trim down the strip and add it to the center of the middle mom word.

My Favorite Things April Release | Tips & Tricks


Hello and welcome back! Today I have a card to share for a new monthly feature on the My Favorite Things blog called Tips & Tricks. The design team will be sharing cards, and projects that feature a fun idea for ways to use the newest release products.


For my card today I created a cluster of flowers and leaves using both the stamps and Die-namics from the new Bold Blossoms stamp set.  I wanted to share the idea of just using the coordinating dies on their own as well as with the stamps.


With the April release, My Favorite Things released a gorgeous line of 100% wool felt that can be used on your crafting projects and it was the perfect way to showcase the coordinating flower dies from this set.

I  diecut all of the flowers using the dies and felt (Green-Eyed Monster, Sno Cone, Razzle Berry, Pink Lemonade and Gravel Gray), and then I stamped the leaves onto white card stock with Limelight ink and die cut those as well.


I love that I can stamp out the flower images and use those on my cards, or just use the dies without the stamps for a completely different look.

My Favorite Things April Release | Just Add Color


Hello and welcome back! Today I have a card to share for a new monthly feature on the My Favorite Things blog called Just Add Color. The design team will be sharing cards, stamped images, and projects from the newest release that feature coloring in some way.


For my card, I decided to use the new Rain or Shine stamp set with Strathmore Toned Gray paper and my Prismacolor pencil crayons. I love how vibrant the pencils look on this paper and couldn't wait to create a rainbow umbrella on this image.


I stamped the images onto my paper with Extreme Black ink with my Misti stamping tool, and I left the stamps in the Misti so I could re-stamp the images after I coloured them. By doing it this way, I don't have to worry if I mute down the stamped lines with my colouring because I can restamp and darken the outlines back up. 

I coloured the images with my pencil crayons, and I will admit that it took awhile LOL! I like to do all my blending with my pencils and not use Gamsol, so it does take me awhile to colour.  Once I had the colouring down,  I ended up re-stamping the images in black ink, and then I stamped them in Versamark and clear embossed them. This gave everything a bold black border and some raised dimension.


I added the panel to a piece of white card stock and then adhered the entire piece onto a Limelight card base. I love the bright card base with the brightly coloured images.

I also wanted to share the card and envelope I created for this month's release class. I used the same Rain or Shine stamp set with the new Envelope Buddy stencil to create matching envelope art.

Wednesday Sketch Challenge 379


Hello and welcome back. Today I have a card to share for the newest sketch challenge at the My Favorite Things Challenge blog. 

This week's sketch has a simple design, and I decided to use the new Cross-Stitch Rectangle die (I am so addicted to this die LOL!) to create a background pattern and then let the sketch inspire the layout of the sentiment.


I stitched the entire background, and then I adhered the panel to a Grout Gray card base. I then die cut the word friend and also stamped a smaller sentiment onto a white sentiment strip. I adhered them onto the card front with liquid adhesive with the word friend on a bit of a diagonal just like the sketch.


I love the detail the stitching adds to the background and the simple sentiment really lets all the stitched detail stand out on the card.

My Favorite Things April Release New Product Launch


Hello and welcome to the My Favorite Things April Release New Product Launch. All of the new products we've been sharing all week are now available in the MFT online store!

For my card tonight I created another cross-stitched card and created a fun, colorful unicorn pattern. I love coming up with fun new designs to use with this die.


I die cut the cross-stitch panel from white card stock and used rainbow colours to stitch the unicorn. I wanted to add a little sparkle to him so I used metallic thread to stitch his horn and I love the result!
